Tangier Free Zone, best free zone port in the world and sixth best zone of the future
According to the latest classification by the Foreign Direct
Investment magazine, a publication of the Financial Times, the Tangier
free zone has been designated sixth best zone of the future for the
year 2012-13, the first free port zone, the second best airport area at
the global level.
The ranking reinforces the place that Tangier Free Zone occupies
as the second economic center in Morocco after Casablanca. The British
magazine justifies its classification because of the nearby port of
Tanger Med Tanger TGV / Casablanca which enters into service in 2015 and
wind farms around the area that provide 260 MW of renewable energy.
Thus, the northern region benefits from its strategic position but also from all efforts made by Morocco for renewable energy and development of the transport sector.
